Bringing home the bacon

Well 84 lbs of ground deer went into the freezer this morning along with 10 packages of steaks and 3 lbs of tenderloins. I didnt even know that deer tenderloins got that big. This is by far the largest deer I have ever taken. The rack was 16 inches across inside and the animal weighed over 200 lbs field dressed. The wind chill that morning was below zero and it was sleeting before we dragged him out, which in itself was no easy task at nearly 3/4 of a mile along this lake bank. The deer up here are huge and I am looking foward to next fall....

The deer was around 70 yards away when I shot. I will bring some venison at new years... That is a great idea. Though season will still be on in texas then, maybe dave can kill us some fresh meat.

I'd love to kill some fresh meat. It'll be tricky to get a deer in Marion county though. Maybe some pork could supplement the menu.
